The Nebraska Skate scene went off Sunday night at the Bourbon Theatre in downtown Lincoln. The Bay 198 Shop Video Contest videos premiered with 8 shops represented. Precision Skateboards won 1st place overall best video with Bruce Abraham (All Out) winning best trick, Lance Wilewski (Shifted) winning best line and SILO picked up best bail and most overall creative. Phil Burcher was also recognized for his years of support to Nebraska and everything skateboarding.

The videos, atmosphere and vibe was amazing and everyone involved, especially Mike Smith, is thanked for all the effort.

We will be adding the video entries and photos as we get them.

Aside from Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, Dylan, and Dylan….Hamilton, Rief, Bunger, T.J., Little Richard, Eric J, Kimmel, Blanchard, D-Moran, Zak Pischnotte, Jake Walker, Steve Andel, and Dave Nelson.

3. Favorite spot/park/object to skate?
Anything that involves primo…In other words, Ledges, Boxes, Rails, and Mannym-Ramirez pads. Anything, really now days. The Bay’s a pretty sick spot…Linden’s always fun…3rd and D in front of Motive…Easily the hottest spot right now.

4. Is the nickname Fuzzy Head officially now an enigma?
It’s funny you ask that…Because I was actually cast before Jim Carrey to play E. Nigma for the movie “Batman Forever.” I suppose I’ve kind of become Fuzz E. My immediate family call me by my real name, but they’re the only ones anymore, really…But it does puzzle some people when they figure out my real name…

5. What’s going through your head when you do things like pull up to Roberts Skate Park not warmed up, and go straight to the handrail and try to heelflip 50-50 it?
Well…I haven’t done such since break #2 so really nothing anymore, but I used to just be so psyched to shred and I just have the energy, and at that point, the intensity on a skateboard…Not to mention, I ALWAYS tech deck an hour before I go skateboarding…So TECHNICALLY, I DO warm up…My means of warming up is just a tad unconventional…Going on that fact, I’ve wrecked myself more times than not, but there’s nothing like the feeling of stomping tricks that a lot of people are reluctant to try. You’d think that after two broken legs, I’d learn to warm up properly, but I guess my brain just hasn’t evolved to that point yet.

6. The sign says long haired freaky people need not apply. What gives?
Long haired freaky people(people such as Lil’ Wayne) are kinda like my version of one eyed, one horned, flying purple people eaters…Except purple people eaters don’t bother me like long haired freaky people. I’ve always had this hunch that long haired freaky people were out to ruin my life’s work(which to this point has amounted to a glass of lemonade, a pissed off cat, and a beat up four door that has a sound system it doesn’t deserve) and they just give me the creeps in general. To be completely honest, and this may sound slightly paranoid, but, I think they’re a government conspiracy geared toward ruining my McKenzie heritage. I’m proud to be Egyptian…And I walk like it too.

7. If your dad’s corvette was in the movie Cars, set us up on how a short scene would go.
A short scene with the Vette in Cars…Hmmm…This is a tough one…Well, I think this scene would have to include My father as played by Peter Griffin who resembles him almost to a T…It would probably go back to when I was a kid growing up, playing soccer…Little known fact, that car actually used to belong to Ken Rohloff…Who was my soccer coach for a few years…The voice of the Vette would be Samuel L. Jackson, who would literally scream EVERY LINE…even ones that aren’t at all necessary. It would steal Lightning McQueen’s Porsche girlfriend and then it would fart in McQueen’s general direction, taunt him by making jokes about his father being a Geo Metro that smelled of Elderberries, and ask him if his paint job comes with a free bowl of soup.

2. Favorite local skater(s)?
The whole community has been great! The younger kids (everyone) have a level of progression that has been insane! I blame YouTube.

3. Favorite spot/park/object to skate?
I love Roberts! Carter lake is fun because I can learn just about anything.

4. If you were forced to not use Final Cut for a year, what would you do?
I would just start drawing what I see and make flip books. I moved to After Effects for 95% of my work. I love it!

5. What tricks could you do if you put a snowboard on your current skateboard setup?
Probably just an Ollie. I’m a little rusty.

6. Describe your experience working for a business owned by a fellow skateboarder in Dave Nelson versus previous employers.
Limitless! Dave + everyone at SecretPenguin are fantastic! I’m lucky to work with such a talented + creative crew!

Favorite spot is probably the Elk’s parking block or Beaver Banks in York

The first season. It was original and funny. Now it’s just political and stupid.

6. Have you been more scared filming Cory Foster trying a trick or jumping off a bridge/cliff?
Filming Cory try the death drop for Havoc vol.2 was scarier. I was just waiting for him to catch his front foot and go face-first to the pavement.

7. What is your favorite photo you’ve ever taken and explain why?
This water drop photo is my favorite because I shot it with a $200 point and shoot camera in my kitchen sink and I hardly photoshopped it at all. Also, it was used for a book cover by someone, so that was rad too.

2. Favorite local skater(s)?
Everybody. It’s impossible to single out so many people who I love skating with, so I’ll go with the Motive Team, the Fremont crew, the I Got Ames crew, and the Around 50 Seasoned Veteran category which includes Phil Burcher, Jeff Boynton, and Joe Hamilton. Also John Bunger for being my transition bro-seph and Charles Venneman for being the push slide maestro.

3. Favorite spot/park/object to skate?
Ledges & flat rails all day. Transition has just always been slightly outside of my comfort zone.

5. Best thing about owning a skateshop?
Not having to go to four shops across two states while on a skate trip just to find a pair of 13’s… ha, but I digress. It’s a great feeling to provide for your community, and at the same time keep skateboarding affordable. When I started skating car loads of us would have to pile into one of our parent’s cars once in a great while so we could finally make it to BBB or Precision. Gas prices were also about 99 cents a gallon back then, but having to skate a board backwards for a month because the tail was broke off sucked. Fremont has always had a big enough skate scene to need a shop, but the town is small enough where it’s hard for any small local merchant to make ends meet. Being able to have the shop split 50/50 with Joe provides us long-term stability and reduces a lot of stresses.

6. Favorite trick you’ve ever landed?
Flatground: Patrick Swayze.

Rail: The time I was trying to learn feebles and Jr Kumm was basically screaming at me to “MAN UP” and “JUST DO THE WHOLE RAIL” because he said it was easier. After going for the whole rail I hit it first try. Thanks Jun!

Box: Got out of school (high school) and just got to the Fremont park to skate with Dan Moran, and completely pulled a nollie nosegrind across the box out of my a… I remember feeling like I just had a heart attack and couldn’t even skate anymore after that. Ha! Good times, great oldies…

7. Best flavor of Village Inn pie?
Hands down you can’t top Country Apple.

5. If you could have any animal on a tshirt, which would it be and why?
I’d say a good spread of animals on a shirt would be my favorite, granted they are placed there for some thematic purpose. For example, “Animals of the Southwest” would be a solid spread, but a shirt with a grizzly bear and a macaw probably wouldn’t make the cut. In a nutshell, I like my animal shirts like I like my buffets: A lot of selection, but with a purpose.

My favorite Nebraska skater is Todd Falcon. I’m not 100% sure that he’s from there, but seriously… how could he NOT be!

My favorite skate spot? A perfectly smooth sidewalk with 6in of straight vert.

4. Best video part
My best video part? Good question. I guess my part in Recess was pretty good. I’m kind of fond of the stuff I did for the SLAP OIAM’s, too. It’s probably the footage of El Vortex vs. Spiv (of The Make-Up) in Boston. All enders, I belive the kids say.

5. Favorite song to listen to while skating
Uh, my friends. Take your gd Ipods off, you little f’ers. Serioulsy, are your friends so f’ing lame that a gd Metallica song is better company than their conversation or them laughing or cheering you on. Get better friends, retards.

I’m lactarded, so any coconut milk ice cream.

7. Best professional wrestler of all time
Andre the Giant, duh. I met him in the airport in Chicago. It was amazing how drunk he was and how much his pants didn’t fit him. I was crying, but could not truly decipher the emotions. This was right after I saw all of the other wrestlers in the airport bar drinking and talking together. Ted Dibiase hugging Virgil (right after their falling out), The Anvil laughing with Ricky Steamboat, Jim Duggan sharing beers with The Iron Sheik. It was all a lie! I was devastated. Everything I knew was now a lie and it kicked my belief in Santa Claus, Jesus and justice right out of the third story window.

Wrestling is hella gay, by the way.
